Becca Kotler

Rebecca (Becca) Kotler is the Project Director at CORNERS: the Center for Neighborhood Engaged Research and Science, where she manages and oversees the implementation of the Center’s major projects and community engagement initiatives. Recent professional experiences at Northwestern and University of Illinois-Chicago involved managing multiple engaged research projects and professional learning initiatives. After teaching in classrooms for several years, Becca completed a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction at University of Illinois-Chicago and co-authored several qualitative studies focused on multilingual students’ knowledge and identity construction. In her free time, she enjoys supporting her kids’ sports and arts activities, going to see live theatre and music, making food, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Featured Projects

Currently, our research focuses primarily on gun violence prevention and community violence intervention (CVI), policing practices, and public safety, and we are expanding into other areas that effect neighborhood health and well-being.

The Center for Neighborhood Engaged Research & Science (CORNERS) is housed at Northwestern University’s Institute for Policy Research. We develop transformative research projects with community and civic partners aimed at improving health and safety for more equitable neighborhoods.
